VERDICT

The overall verdict is that this is a good deep fryer with some great features.  The Delonghi D677UX comes with a one-year limited warranty. One of the top deep fryers as voted by editors of HomeCentric.

The DeLonghi D677UX is an indoor deep fryer that has a patented easy clean oil draining system which makes cooking and clean up easy.  You just take the hose out of the front of the unit and drain the oil into a safe oil-collecting container.  The aluminum pot has a non-stick interior making it easy to clean.  Anti-odor filters are located inside of the lid and help control odors that often come with frying.  This deep fryer has a 2.2 pound food capacity.

Features

The lid on this unit has a viewing window which enables you to check on food without worrying about splattering oil.  The handle is cool touch which protects you from burning your hands if you touch it while it is still hot.  Some of the other features on the DeLonghi D677UX are:

  • Basket
  • Basket handle
  • Cord holder
  • Handle slider
  • Signal light
  • Sliding thermostat control
  • Lid opening button
  • Filter inspection opening
  • Anti-odor filter cap
  • Filter cap fastening hook
  • Drainage tube door

The adjustable thermostat gives you the flexibility to adjust temperature from 300 to 370 degrees for various foods.  The unit also has non-slip feet which keeps the fryer stable.  Side handles provide easy portability and the unit exterior stays cool so it is safe for you to touch.

Operation

You can pre-heat your food by placing it in the basket and putting the basket in the bowl in a raised position.  Then close the lid by pushing it down lightly until it snaps shut.  Set the thermostat and when the temperature is reached the signal light will turn off.  After the light goes off, move the handle slider to lower the basket into the oil.

The glass viewing window tends to fog up so if you grease it with a small amount of oil before cooking, it will decrease the amount of condensation which helps visibility.

It is recommended that you filter the oil after frying which removes food particles like breadcrumbs or flour.  If you keep food particles in the oil it may burn and the oil will deteriorate faster.

Be sure to replace the anti-odor filters from time to time because they eventually lose their effectiveness.  You can tell if it is time to change the filters because there will be a change in their color.

Cleaning

Never put the deep fryer in water and be sure to remove the filters from the lid before you place it in water.  To clean the interior of the fryer use a paper towel or sponge to remove any deposit in the bottom of the bowl.  The tank can be washed with hot, soapy water.  The basket should be cleaned regularly which removes deposit build up.  It can be put into the dishwasher.  You can wipe the outside of the unit with a soft, damp cloth which will remove condensation and oil smears.
